High Calling

God’s design both right and sure
Is a light that shall endure
For motherhood runs deep and true
It is the essence of all we do
God’s heart is to nurture, love and guide
In the heart of women He has put this side
God’s character of tenderness is shown
When women reflect His love we’ve known
So though the joy of life within
Is a blessed gift we know is from Him
Motherhood is much more
It’s a reflection of the open door
To nurture, to support, to welcome, to love
People in our path, sent from above
The celebration of mothers should never diminish
But the charge to all women is to finish
The heart God has given to each one
To express the tenderness of the Son
No matter how young and old we may be
Womanhood is motherhood and all need to see
That women bring life from loins or from heart
It is the charge God has given from the start
From Eve, to Sarah, to Rachel, to me
Reflecting God’s glory is entrusted to me
So as Christ’s Body both women and men
Let’s celebrate what has always been
In male and female God’s fullness is seen
Into this truth we must always lean
Motherhood, Womanhood is a high calling
A charge we must take, even when falling
That God gives to women, the heart of His Son
To proclaim to the world all He has done
So let’s nurture, support, welcome and love
For this high calling has come from above
The glory of God the world will see
When motherhood, womanhood is reflected in you and me
